Creating your account

How to sign up for Haubot, verify your email and lock the account down with a passkey or strong password.

A Haubot account is the personal identity behind everything you do on the platform — listings, bids, messages, inquiries, reviews, notifications. The account itself is free, takes a minute or two to create and doesn't require a business profile until you actually want to transact.

Go to /auth/register and fill in:

  • Work email. This is your login and the destination for verification + transactional emails. Use the address you actually read — anything time-sensitive lands here.
  • Password. At least 8 characters. The platform also supports passkeys (WebAuthn) for password-less sign-in; you can add one straight after first login.
  • First and last name. Visible on your reviews and on your business profile if you create one.

After submitting you'll receive a verification email. Click the link to confirm the address. Until you do, you can browse the marketplace but you can't message sellers, post inquiries or place bids.

After your first login, open Dashboard → Settings → Security and register a passkey. Passkeys are stored by your device (Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello, a hardware key, or a password manager that supports them) and replace the password entirely on supported browsers. You can keep both methods active — a passkey for daily use, password as fallback. See Sign-in and sessions for the full security picture.

Verify your email

The link in the verification email is single-use and expires after a few hours. If you didn't get it:

  • Check the spam folder.
  • Make sure the address you typed at sign-up was correct.
  • From the sign-in page, request a new verification email.

If the email is wrong, the easiest fix is to sign up again with the correct address and let the original account expire — accounts that never verify are cleaned up automatically.

What's enabled at this stage

With a verified account but no business profile, you can:

  • Browse the marketplace, search, save listings and saved searches.
  • View public listings and download public documents.
  • Read articles in this Knowledge Base.
  • Customise notification channels (Discord, Telegram, email) in Notifications.

To actually buy, sell, bid, post an inquiry or respond to one, you'll need a business profile — that's the next step.
